I heard this rumor and figured I would post it here because I know some people have been talking about it.

Well, I certainly hope this rumor becomes a reality. That would be awesome.

Lemons is the race of the $500 cars.

Google it...

I am sure it will interest the group doing it very much as they have some knowledge of the track- well a few of them do.

Yes I have heard the rumor also by some fairly reliable sources. The actual schedule won't be up till Late Oct. / Nov. so we will keep our fingers crossed!!

Don't be fooled by the $500 price point. It will take about $4000 to $6000 to prep the car and run the lemons race. It all depends on what you spend on safety items like brakes, cage, seat, fuel cell, and wheels and tires. Don't forget driver/crew safety items like suit, helmet, shoes, and gloves. Also like any other form of racing you can loose your car at any time.

In the 24hr lemons race they vote one car to be destroyed normally at the start of the 2nd day. Spend too much money on your car or your too fast for every one, guess what....you get the vote. You may come home with a pile of scrape metal.

No to discourage anyone from do this. Just know it is not "cheap" and it takes a lot of time to get the car ready. You could build an SCCA IT car for about the same money and you can buy them even cheaper. But now figure in the fun factor?????? LOL

Here is a build cost that I found on the "old" yahoo forums for the 24 hrs Lemons. This is for a car that was ran in 2008 so the costs are not off that much.

But if you come home with your car in one piece and in decent shape, then you have a car that you can have fun with on other levels as well.

Im looking forward to these events next year.
