I'm sure it depends on the car and the way it's driven, but is it common to have to have a car realigned about halfway through an autox season?

The reason I ask is because it looks like the Miata doesn't have as much negative camber in the rear as it did at the beginning of the season. Of course getting the car realigned is no big deal, but I'm wondering if it's normal for a car's alignment settings to change over multiple autox runs.

If things didn't get tightened up properly that is possible Louis. If it looks like something is not right get it checked out.

I don't know about NC Miatas but it is a common problem for NA and NB miatas to have to have aligments done somewhat frequently. Until you are on new bushings with new eccentrics and they are torqued properly- yes you can have issues. Like Dustin said if something wasn't wrenched tight - yes it could have slipped. In fact alot of the clanking noises coming from some of the NA miatas that grace our events is usually from the eccentrics and or bushings.

I usually hear people say that they like to get an alignment and then drive home carefully and then re-torque to about 180 ft.lbs. This is just something I heard though... over tightening bolts like that can be dangerous if you "yield" them.

If you have ecentric washers they can slip and even wear out over time. They need to be torqued properly whatever the factory spec is. I have had them slip on my corvette in the past. I have also had them over tightened and had to replace all the bolts and washers.
