(Copied/pasted from SFR, for those who may not visit the site)

Just got my NT-05's (255/40/17) today. Thanks to Nick's Garage, he got them to me quickly and for a great price!

Just a FYI for those interested in these as a STREET tire, they only come with tread depth of just over 6/32nd's. I didn't realize that until today. That was my fault, not paying attention to something like this. If I would have known that, I probably would have just paid a bit more for the star specs (which I had last year).

I'm mainly planning on using them during the spring/summer as a street tire. I may use them for auto-x one time to see how they compare vs the star specs.

I'm going get them mounted today or tomorrow and post up an initial review later on this week! Updates to come as the spring/summer season progresses.

Yeah, I've read some pretty good reviews on various forums, so I figured I'd give them a shot.

I did get them installed today. One thing I learned about wal-mart, is they won't put wider than stock tires on your wheels, unless you just bring in the wheels dismounted. I went to specialty tire and got right in, so I was happy.

Anyway, I'm going to go for a drive here tonight to try them out. Initially from driving back home, they feel damn good in terms of initial response. I'd say better than the Star-specs. They felt a little more "rubbery" than the NT05's, but again, this is just initial impression.

Man, these tires feel great! However, after my drive I checked the warm tire pressure, and they were at 46psi (max speed I was going was 30-40mph through town. So I'm not sure how much the following info will matter.

They did feel like rocks, probably due to the high pressure, so I did lower the psi when I got back home.

All in all, they feel great! The response seems on par with how a more narrow tire would feel.

The first thing I noticed when I put my star specs on last year, is they did feel spongy, and didn't react as quick as the NT05's. I figured it was because of the width, but with the same width NT05's, I didn't notice the same characteristic. However, this could be attributed to the fact that the tread depth is 6/32nds compared to the greater depth star specs (both 200 treadware).

I really would like to push these tires to the limit, but I didn't really travel on any twist roads where I could open it up.

More detailed reviews to come...I may try them out the first auto-x weekend in May just to get a better idea how they really work.

This is true.

I'm going to find a parking lot tomorrow night and see how they feel with the reduced pressure! :D
