One of the changes I'm considering making to the NC for next year is replacing the struts and springs I've run the past couple of years with coilovers. Coilover setups I'm looking at are those made by Ohlins, KW, JIC, and Bilstein. The cost for any of the setups I'm looking at should be less than $2,500.

Regardless of which set of coilovers I go with, how many points would be added to my car? I'm having some trouble interpreting NASA's classing rules regarding coilovers.

If I go with coilovers, I'd also be looking at replacing my stock strut-tie bar with an aftermarket FSTB. Since my car already has an FSTB from the factory, would any points be assessed for an aftermarket bar?

The total number of points added for any of the above mods probably doesn't really matter because I'll probably bump to NXD next year with plenty of points left before bumping to NXC. I'm just playing around with numbers of points added to help me decide how I might set up my car for next year.

Louis, the coilovers are looked at like a spring/shock combo. If you are already taking the 5 point hit for both that will not change unless you spend more then 2400 for the set up. The strut tower bar should not cost you any more points because you already have one.

That's what I figured but wanted to check with someone to be sure. I couldn't remember if the coilover setups I'm looking at would be considered a spring/strut combo or as something else. And that's good to know/be reminded that replacing my FSTB wouldn't add any more points.

Thanks for the clarification. :)
