When my engine's cold it makes a metal-on metal clanking sound that is much less noticeable when it's warm/running temp but is still noticable then. It goes away over about 1,800-2,000 rpm. My uneducated guess is that the top end is dry, but then shouldn't it go away after about 30 seconds?

Also, i'm not sure if this is important but the sound stays louder longer if it's just been warmed up at idle rather than been driving on to get warm.

Anyone know what this is? or if it requires attention?

Spark plugs were fine, and from what i've read it does sound a lot like a piston slap. I can't find much backable evidence about how bad my case is/how bad piston slap itself is at all though.
