Hey well I got a few questions bout springs.

Ok first off I have KYB AGX for struts and they are warrantied to handle up to a 2 inch drop (recommended 1.5 in drop).

What I find odd about this is that I mearsured the travel room on the struts before i'd be on the bump stops and it is exactly 2 inches.

#1 I'm looking at getting H&R stiff lowering springs that are a 1.8 in drop(front) and 1.5 (rear) and I did some reading and they actually recommend cutting the bumpstop down as needed. With a 1.8 in drop that only leaves .2 in of travel room...would it be safe to have my installer cut the bump stops or should I search for different springs? Would cutting the bump stops open the struts up to substantial risk? Also has anyone with AGX lowered them, if so how low and how long have you had the struts/springs?

#2 ok this question is kind of unrelated but i didnt want to make two posts so...I've noticed squeaking in my car...the first is a squeak that comes from the front right wheel well when going over small bumps and only in the morning when the car has sat over night (after it has sat in the heat at school the squeaking goes away completely), this makes me think it might be a dry bushing? or a shot bearing? The second noise is a distant sounding squeak that happens only when I take a hard left over uneven road and it comes from the right rear wheel well...both squeaks sound like someone pushing on an old spring mattress. FYI my springs are rusted through and the paint is literally coming off in massive chunks...could the second noise be the spring straining while extending? (it is not the struts, they are not even a year old, and they dampen perfect)

Thanks for the help...unfortunetly I wont be at the first nasacross of the year because I have to take the SAT

After suffering a shot wheel bearing myself I can't imagine that's what it is, mine sounded like a f16 was 2 feet behind me (loud and constant groan) and when I went on the interstate I was fairly certain I was going to die. It felt like I was jerking the wheel 5 inches backand forth when the wheel was dead straight. So i doubt that its a wheel bearing ;)

I've had AGX's since October 2005 and have put 40,000 miles on em dropped more than 2 inches and they're fine so far. You should be good with the H&R's, I cut the bumpstops in half on mine also, no problems.

My Miata runs KYB AGX struts and H&R Race Springs with no issues at all.

You will be fine.

The noises you are hearing could be as simple as the spring rubbing against the strut. I wouldn't be concerned. You have seen us do safety inspection. Shake your wheels- push the top in and pull out while sitting on the ground- if you hear a clunk=bad. Then do front to back. If you cannot make the sound doing this you are probably ok.

Lastly jack up the car and try lifting the tire back to the car to simulate the noise. If you don't hear it- you are more than likely not at risk
