Long and frustrating story, but I figured I'd post here to share with this with you guys as well. This story is a few days old...

I recently had a set of winter tires installed, and to my surprise today (sunday) after I washed my car, I found some interesting things.

Image

The front fender is popped out about a half inch or so at the middle to the bottom where it aligns with the lower sideskirt. I'm assuming when the tire place jacked my car up, they didn't do it properly and lifted it on the sideskirt itself and somehow the fender popped out!

My question, the two 10mm bolts that secure the bottom part of the fender are still ok and in place. At first, it was thought that they may have been damaged when they jacked it up. They're ok. So my question, is it possible that the pressure from the sideskirt pushing up on the fender could "bend" the fender making it look the way it does?

I'm calling the tire shop tomorrow morn to see if they are willing to rectify this situation! This is why I've done everything to my car (other than the clutch). I can't install tires myself! :( I should have took Tony up on his offer, instead of going to this other place (not naming names)...

:( :( :(

Oh yeah, and the day after I had the winter tires installed, a someone hit my rear bumper at work. I found this out the same time when I washed my car and found the fender disaster.

I parked in a spot I normally don't at work (I usually park way far away from everyone!) and go figure that the time I park by other cars, someone Belgium my car up!

When i left work that day, I noticed there was a gray grand prix parked WITHIN a foot of my car, and didn't think anything of it, til now!!!

Today I saw the same car that parked close to me, and sure enough, their front bumper has scraches from them hitting my car. I will hopefully find the co-worker and confront them tomorrow!

What a great past 7 days this has been!

On a positive note, the winter tires on the evo are amazing. I've never, ever experienced this much control in any vehicle I've driven or ridden in, on snowy surfaces. I just wish you guys would hold autox's in the winter :D :D :D

I'm just kidding, sort of!

What winter tires are you running? I'm running Hankook Icebear W300s on the Mazda5 and Yokohama IceGuard IG20s on the NX.

I just went with the Hankook winter Ipike W409's. Inexpensive, but I'm very impressed so far. They give me much more confidence in driving in the snow, maybe too much!

I've never had a dedicated snow tire for the evo ever since I've owned it, so this is all new to me! I can't believe how great it handles, and laying on the brakes doesn't even make the ABS enable unless I REALLY stomp on them. It's just crazy! On the previous tires I've ran, if I touched the brakes it seemed like the ABS would engage instantaneously!!!

I think I only paid $103 a piece for them 225/45/17's, which is about as inexpensive as you can get for that size.

The iPike W409s are probably what I'll get when the IceBear W300s wear out. Did you get them from Discount Tire Direct?

Damn man that really sucks, hope everything gets taken care of. On a side note I know exactly what you're talking about with the winter tires, my Blizzak's give me almost too much confidence too lol. I didn't think the difference from all seasons to winter tires would be that big of a deal until I got a set, and wow. I don't know if I could own a vehicle without now lol.

sucks man.

Aren't winter tires the best? I drive the fleet of BMWs in any condition and there is no drama. It is fun to watch cars such as yours without them. Not so good eh?
You however, have found the right setup. I've always thought the price of snows is offset by the cost of sliding off the road or into another car.
Now, it you can buy some better luck...

No doubt, I'm going to be stopping by the place and speaking with the owner here tomorrow when I get a chance and see what they're willing to do! They said they want to take a look at it, then they'll see what they may do.

Yeah, there's no going back after having a dedicated set of winter tires!

Indeed! There is no comparison!

I'll keep you guys posted on what I find out with the bumper and fender in the next day or so... :x

520ft/lbs of torque @1800rpm doesn't really help much though :D

sadly my truck is running wider tires than your Evo (265/65-15's)
