Hey all, just have a quick question for the auto-xers who daily drive their cars (or track only car owners).

I have adjustable camber plates on my coilovers and am wondering when you guys adjust for more camber before the auto-xing, do you just leave your toe settings alone? And then at the end of the day just switch your camber settings back to normal?

If you leave your toe settings alone after the camber adjustment, is running 4-6 times in a day going to accelerate the wear of the inner side of the tire, or do you not notice much extra wear due to the "off-spec" toe setting?

My point is, I won't add a huge amount of negative camber the next time I run, if it's going to accelerate the wear of my tires.

Last time I ran, I didn't touch any settings with the coilovers (had barely any negative camber as well), and the outter edges of my tires took a beating. I'd like to play around with them this week and see what happens.

Hopefully someone understands what I mean... :)

It all depends on what your toe settings do when you change your camber. My 97 Mustang GT toes out when you add camber. I had my alignment shop measure and set the alignment for both extremes of camber and then set it accordingly. For my "street" setting I'm at -1.5 camber with about 1/8 total toe in. When I put it at my AutoX setting I'm at -3.5 camber and about 1/8 toe out. I'm also at 5 degrees of caster (I need to trim a bolt a little to get more... hopefully close to 6 degrees when I'm done.

Hope this helps.

ps. My Civic runs -1.5 deg of camber and zero total toe all year long.

I just set an aggresive aligment that I use every day and at the track. The only down side is I opted to Race toe in instead of toe out. Toe out is a pain in the a** on the street and with an already agressive negative camber you will chow down some tires.

Maybe that's just what I'll do. How much camber can I run on the street without sacrificing my tires. I know toe is worse on the tires, but I'm just curious.

I see jan is running 1.5 degrees. What are you running rusher?

Thanks for the input.

Its different for every car. I am sure that if you dig hard enough on a Evo forum you will find suggested settings. Suggested for my Honda for autox is the exact opposite as my Mazda as far as Camber.

I would suggest looking into suggested allignments for your car that perform equaly well on both street and autox. That would be my suggestion.

Any other suggestions you would suggest there Marcus? My suggestion is to take Marcus's suggestion and also stop using suggestion so much.

Dammit my head hurts.

Haha,

Sounds good guys. I'm probably just going to get an aggressive street alignment being my car is my daily driver. That way I don't have to worry about making adjustments before the events.

Thanks.
