Anyone else on here used the A032R's before? I know they are discontinued, but I have a chance to buy another new set for a good price. They were made in 06, and have just been stored from what the seller is stating.

Would it be a wise choice for autox tire even though they are that old? I'm looking for a step up over the star specs I used last year.

Can they harden much over that amount of time?

Depends on a few things. If they were kept in a heated area in the winter? How many heat cycles have then been through? They should work, but for $90 a tire for how old they are it would be questionable to me. Granted I am used to running a car that take offs for my car are cheap- lol.

Well, these are brand spanking new tires, still have the stickers on them. From the pictures he sent though, it seems that they're stored in a non-heated garage (In Nebraska). I think that's why he's selling them for so cheap. $90 a tire for that size (255/40/17) is really cheap, that's why I have these questions as well!

How hard can these compounds actually get from sitting in the cold? Would they be worse than my star specs? There's probably no way of answering that, unless I buy 'em and run 'em to find out myself.

I may just go another route and not take the risk...but it's a steal considering I pay $160 a pop for star specs in the same size...I'd be over $240 a pop for most R-compounds that size.

I won't pretend to be all knowledgable about tires. Cold storage unmounted without any heat cycles. I would think they would be ok. More than likely better than the star specs. Dustin's 10 year old Hoosier Slicks were better than any street tire. I guess thats my thoughts on it. I think they would be fine.

To be fair- Dustin's tires were probably better than my Nittos from the beginning of the year last year.

i have read on corvette forums if they are stored in cold or hot during the winter it does not matter as long as they are not stored while on a the vehicle AKA with alot of pressure on them

i wouldnt worry about it too much if they are in teh cold or not IMHO just as long as they arent mounted to a car

I think I may just pass these up...He's wanting to sell them to me for $460 shipped which is an excellent price considering when they were brand new for $240+ish a piece.

I actually am going to try the Hankook Z214's. Ordered a set here today.

If anyone is looking for some 255/40/17's in the a032r's, I'd be more than willing to post a link to his for sale thread. Otherwise I may just pick 'em up and use them in the future because they are so inexpensive...
