Well, these are brand spanking new tires, still have the stickers on them. From the pictures he sent though, it seems that they're stored in a non-heated garage (In Nebraska). I think that's why he's selling them for so cheap. $90 a tire for that size (255/40/17) is really cheap, that's why I have these questions as well!
How hard can these compounds actually get from sitting in the cold? Would they be worse than my star specs? There's probably no way of answering that, unless I buy 'em and run 'em to find out myself.
I may just go another route and not take the risk...but it's a steal considering I pay $160 a pop for star specs in the same size...I'd be over $240 a pop for most R-compounds that size.
