 Post subject: 205/40 on a 6 inch wide wheel?

Do you think I could get away with a 205/40-16 on a 16 x 6 wheel? All the tire specs say that size is best for a 7-8 inch wheel.

the 40 series tire is the only part I question. I think you would be fine.

I have 205/55/14's on 6" wheels. I've had 225/50/14's on them as well.

so jan, you dont think I would have a problem running these 205/40s on a 6 inch wheel?

The tread width is less than the 205/50/15 which goes a 6" rim pretty easily. The shorter sidewall could create some issues... but I'd give it a try.
Make sure you tip your tire guy though.

I am my Tire guy. LOL. Thanks for the insight. These wheels have a +53 offset so they tuck crazy on the civic. Drove it with the 185/55-16s on it and the tires rubbed a little on bigger bumps.
